My 18 year old son still lives with me in Chicago Illinois, do I need to add him to my car insurance policy already?

Yes.

Most insurance carriers in Chicago Illinois will require you to have your licensed son added on your vehicle insurance policy as long as they live in the same household with you, even if they are only 18 years or older in age. Your insurance carrier will normally want all licensed motorist in your household listed on the policy so they will be properly covered.

Most insurance carriers will require that your son that is away at school but returns home for the summer stay on the car insurance policy as well since your son will likely drive the family automobile(s) when at home.
